Making Mommy Moves

This Mother's Day is special in so many ways. When I think about the fact that this year started with several doctors using the word "infertility" to describe my inability to conceive or my 3-year battle with painful and heavy periods due to uterine fibroids or the fact that I was scheduled to go in for a surgery pre-op appointment the week I discovered I was pregnant, I can't help but pause and let the tears flood out.

I share this post in the spirit of sensitivity to the women who face unique reproductive health challenges. KNOWING the pain of losing your unborn child to a miscarriage, I share this with a spirit of sensitivity to indescribable loss. As a self-aware woman, I share this with the spirit of sensitivity to the frustration of having ones womanhood and feminine identity linked to the ability and inability to produce children (because our decision and ability to bear children doesn't make us any more or less a woman - repeat after me!).

Above all of this, I share this with a spirit of praise, gratitude and rejoicing in The Almighty for answered prayers and exceeding my greatest expectations and wildest dreams. The full stories can be found in previous posts (part 1 and part 2), but let it be known that THIS baby that grows healthy and strong in my womb is a miracle and a fulfillment of God's great promises.

May you keep the faith and trust and believe that all things are possible.

We've traveled to many places, seen and met incredible faces. Nothing compares to the greatest adventure we're about to take, 10 years after we met in 2008!
